IndiviDual Achievement Awards

Our INDIVIDUAL achievement awards are given to young people who demonstrate success, at school, at home, or in the community. These awards are used to provide young people with basic needs and access to extracurricular programs and services that are out of reach for their families. Common awards are:

Sports fee - $50 - to play sports at schools or on club teams
Music/Dance fee - $75 - to take music or dance classes/lessons
AP/College Tests - $100 - to take AP and College Tests
School trips - $150 - to take trips to museums, conferences, etc
Driver’s Education - $300 - to pay for Driver’s Ed as its no longer offered in schools
College Visits - $250 - so students can visit Historically Black Colleges & Universities

Individual Achievement Awards

Mariana - 4th grade - $50 for Girl Scouts

Mariana is very excited to join the Girl Scouts. Due to COVID19 and financial struggles at home she hasn’t been able to participate in extracurricular activities. Participating in Girl Scouts will help her to build strong social skills and develop friendships.

Jerome - 12th Grader - $150 for AP testing

Jerome is an extremely high achieving student who takes his education very seriously. He has maintained a 4.0 grade point average and has dreams of becoming a physician.

Mario - 8th Grade - $350 for Karate classes

Mario is a high energy kid that is working on focusing during structured activities, respecting others, and expressing himself. Karate classes give him a physical outlet while teaching him respect for others and self discipline.

Since starting Karate, Mario’s is applying himself more in class, with fewer conflicts, and displayed better self-control.

Jonathan - 3rd Grader - $300 for clothing and school supplies

Jonathan is an amazing student that is working hard and making a lot of progress. His family moved to Madison prior to the new school year. They started out in a shelter but just found permanent housing.

Javon - 5th grader - $250 for a bike and helmet

Javon, lives with 4 other siblings with his single mother. He will use the bike to ride to school with his older brother.

DJ - 3rd Grader - $300 for Flag football

DJ has a lot of energy and LOVES sports! He talks about sports a lot at school and wants to participate so that he can play with his friends. He has grown a lot since starting flag football.

Ronda - 11th Grade - $300 for cheering uniform

Ronda participated in school cheer over the summer and has been doing so well in cheer that they promoted her to the varsity team. She loves school and is a dedicated student who had good grades her freshman year.

Tom - 3rd grader - $185 swimming lessons

Tom is a great kid with lots of energy. He looks forward to his swimming lessons . Since starting swimming lessons his behavior and attendance at school have improved.
